Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy
(EFIT)
Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), is an attachment-based, humanistic, and relational approach to trauma therapy. When we're born, we have an innate need for a secure attachment figure. Someone who is emotionally and physically present, consistent, and safe. When these needs go unmet, an insecure attachment is likely to develop, deeply impacting relationships later in life.
You may have heard of “attachment styles” i.e. “anxious”, “avoidant”, “fearful/avoidant”, and “secure.” EFIT provides the opportunity for the therapist to serve as a temporary attachment figure–offering connection and corrective experiences. As a client, you will reflect inward on your sense of self and how you construct emotional experiences with others in order to assemble, deepen, and expand emotional responses.
